Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist to join its multidisciplinary addiction services. Working across Possilpark and Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centres, you will provide expert clinical leadership for patients with opiate and alcohol dependency.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consultant‑level assessment, diagnosis and treatment for addiction‑related mental health conditions.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development.
• Participate in research projects, teaching initiatives and recovery‑oriented system design.
• Provide liaison support to general psychiatry and other NHS services.

Required profile

• Full registration with the GMC.
• MRCPsych or FRCPsych qualification (or equivalent).
• Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
• Eligibility for approval under the Scottish Mental Health Act as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMP).
• Experience in addiction psychiatry, preferably with opiate and alcohol dependence.
