Consultant – Allergy & Immunology

About the role

We are creating a new consultant post within the Allergy & Immunology department at St James’s University Hospital. The successful candidate will join a highly experienced multidisciplinary team delivering specialised services for rare primary immunodeficiencies, systemic autoinflammatory disorders and a broad range of allergic diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care in allergy and immunology, including outpatient clinics and day‑case procedures.
• Supervise resident and specialist doctors, specialist nurses, pharmacists and physician associates.
• Participate in on‑call rotas with a 1:4 commitment across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
• Support and develop the immunology laboratory, with flexibility to exchange laboratory time for clinic sessions.
• Contribute to the department’s academic and research activities, maintaining QPIDS accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (or equivalent).
• Completion of a recognised training programme in clinical and laboratory immunology as defined by the JRCPTB curriculum.
• Holder of, or within six months of, a place on the Specialist Register.
• Demonstrated experience in managing primary immunodeficiencies, autoinflammatory disorders and allergic diseases.
