Consultant Anaesthetist & Intensivist

About the role

The Anaesthetic & Intensive Care Unit at Kent & Canterbury Hospital is seeking a dynamic Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist. You will deliver anaesthesia services across a broad range of surgical specialties, provide on‑call cover, and support the intensive care unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic care for adult and paediatric patients across vascular, orthopaedic, urology, endovascular and other surgical lists.
• Participate in on‑call duties, including coverage of the six‑bed Critical Care Unit and four‑bed HDU.
• Contribute to departmental education, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training for the team.
• Engage in flexible job‑plan activities, including a SPA allocation and specific departmental roles.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a recognised consultant anaesthetist and intensivist qualification.
• Experience in delivering regional anaesthesia and managing critical care patients.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to teaching, research and continuous service improvement.
