Consultant General Medicine / Acute - St Johns Hospital

About the role

Direct Medics is recruiting a Consultant General Medicine / Acute for St Johns Hospital in Belfast, with a rota from 5 October to 5 January 2027. The consultant works in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and Emergency Medical Assessment (EMA) and takes ward rounds.

Key responsibilities

• Ward rounds in Ward 14 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning (09:00-12:00).
• Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) post-take ward rounds on Tuesday and Thursday morning (09:00-13:00).
• Emergency Medical Assessment (EMA) and clinical administration during the afternoon shifts (14:00-17:00) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
• EMA administration on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (14:00-17:00).
• Weekend and out-of-hours on-call commitments to be agreed separately via the consultant on-call rota, with an anticipated midweek on-call every 2-3 weeks and one weekend on-call per month.

Required profile

• Valid GMC registration with a full licence to practice.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Minimum 6 months of medical experience in this role or a similar role within the UK.
• Must be on the Specialist Register if referred as a consultant.
