Contentious Probate Litigation Solicitor

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier law firm recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, is seeking a dedicated Contentious Probate Litigation Solicitor to join its litigation department in Manchester. The role offers the opportunity to work on high‑value probate disputes for both corporate and private clients across England and Wales.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of contentious probate matters, including Inheritance (Dependants) Act 1975 claims, proprietary estoppel, and will disputes.
• Provide advice, take instructions, and prepare pleadings for matters such as capacity challenges, duress, forgery, and executor removal.
• Undertake advocacy in the High Court and Court of Appeal, and liaise with clients throughout the litigation process.
• Maintain accurate time‑recording and cost‑tracking procedures.
• Support junior team members by offering technical guidance where appropriate.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with NQ to 5+ years post‑qualification experience in contentious probate.
• Strong client‑care orientation with a sympathetic approach to sensitive matters.
• Ability to handle complex, high‑value cases and work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of contentious probate law and related legislation.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and court documents.
• Proficiency in case management and time‑costing procedures.
