Contract Data Architect – Insurance & Pensions

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a high‑profile data modernisation programme in the insurance and pensions sector. The role is fully remote with occasional travel to London and offers the chance to shape the target‑state architecture of a modern cloud‑native platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery, assessment and technical design for large‑scale data modernisation initiatives.
• Define conceptual and logical architectures, including Lakehouse and Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) layers.
• Develop migration strategies for legacy and mainframe datasets to cloud‑native platforms.
• Create canonical data models across policy, member, scheme, contribution, benefit and reporting domains.
• Design scalable API and micro‑services integration patterns.
• Establish data quality, reconciliation and governance frameworks for regulatory reporting.
• Produce architecture artefacts such as solution designs, data models, source‑to‑target mappings, API specifications and migration runbooks.
• Collaborate with engineering, platform, security and operations teams to ensure solutions are production‑ready.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Data Architect within insurance or pensions.
• Strong understanding of insurance and pension data domains.
• Proven delivery of enterprise‑scale data architecture and modernisation programmes.
• Experience designing modern cloud‑native data platforms.
