About the role
This contract position is for a Java Software Developer working on highly secure operational systems within the UK National Security sector. The role is based in Cheltenham, requires Enhanced DV (eDV) clearance, and runs for 24 months with a hybrid work pattern (3 days on‑site per week).
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Java‑based backend services supporting mission‑critical capabilities.
- Implement and evolve micro‑service architectures and RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
- Participate in Agile delivery cycles, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
Required profile
- Active Enhanced DV (eDV) clearance.
- Strong experience in Java development.
- Background working in secure or government environments.
- Proficiency with micro‑services, RESTful APIs and Agile methodologies.
