Contract Manager – Iconic London Landmark

About the role
We are looking for a senior Technical Contract Manager to take full operational, commercial and technical ownership of a world‑famous heritage and public visitor estate in Central London. You will be the primary partner to the client’s executive estate team and will lead a large on‑site engineering and fabric delivery workforce.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the ultimate engineering authority on‑site, overseeing HVAC, close‑control environments, water systems, steam plant and electrical distribution maintenance (SFG20).
- Lead strategic capital planning and asset lifecycle reviews, delivering sustainable, energy‑efficient engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with conservation specialists to protect historic building fabric during hard‑services maintenance.
- Manage a multi‑million‑pound operational budget, full P&L ownership, cost control and cash‑flow optimisation.
- Direct the financial lifecycle of the contract, including Work in Progress, invoicing and billing queries.
- Identify and develop site improvement and energy‑saving projects, preparing quotes and business cases.
- Lead, mentor and develop a large multidisciplinary resident workforce, overseeing performance reviews and training.
- Procure, coordinate and monitor specialist subcontractors to ensure high‑quality delivery.
Required profile
- Proven technical leader with experience managing complex, high‑profile public assets.
- Strong background in facilities engineering, particularly HVAC, water, steam and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large on‑site teams and drive a cohesive, high‑performance culture.
- Experience in heritage or historic building environments is essential.
- Full P&L responsibility experience, with solid financial governance and budgeting skills.
- Track record of delivering capital projects and energy‑efficiency initiatives.
