Contracts Manager – Facilities & Engineering

About the role

The organisation is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the maintenance and engineering services across a large campus estate. You will be responsible for ensuring that buildings, infrastructure and engineering assets are kept to the highest standards of safety, efficiency and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee both planned and reactive maintenance activities to guarantee service continuity.
• Manage specialist contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety and value for money.
• Drive statutory and regulatory compliance for building services and engineering systems.
• Provide technical expertise on asset performance, support budget management and contribute to estate development programmes.
• Develop collaborative relationships with operational departments and senior stakeholders.
• Lead and develop the support team responsible for outdoor and grounds maintenance.
• Identify and implement improvements in service delivery, sustainability and customer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing engineering or hard facilities management services in large, complex environments such as higher education, healthcare, local authority or commercial estates.
• Strong leadership ability with experience overseeing multiple workstreams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Excellent understanding of building services, infrastructure and asset management principles.
• Ability to balance operational priorities with long‑term strategic planning.
