Contracts Manager

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Contracts Manager to lead civil and utilities projects across the South West, from East Cornwall to Bristol. You will own the delivery of planned water infrastructure and related civils work for a well‑established engineering firm.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safe, efficient delivery of multiple civil/utility sites.
• Manage programmes to meet key milestones and budgets.
• Partner with the commercial team on financial forecasting.
• Provide technical input to pre‑construction and conduct site visits.
• Coordinate with highways, public authorities and statutory bodies.
• Maintain strong client relationships and report progress to senior stakeholders.
• Drive a robust H&S culture, ensuring compliance with PUWER, LOLER, RAMS, temporary works and CDM documentation.
• Keep site records accurate, audit‑ready and up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Proven contracts management experience in wastewater/clean water infrastructure, utilities or construction.
• Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering standards and regulations.
• Ability to juggle multiple sites and teams at pace.
• Confident client‑facing communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with New Engineering Contracts 4th edition (NEC4).
• CSCS Gold or Black Card.
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor qualification.
• Medium or High Risk Confined Spaces certification.
• TWS – Temporary Works Supervisor.
• EUSR – Engineer’s Uplift Safety Register.
• NPORS – National Plant Operators Registration Scheme.
