Control Panel Builder – Electrical Assembly Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Control Panel Builder to join our busy electrical manufacturing team in Tunbridge Wells. The role involves hands‑on assembly, wiring and testing of control panels and related electrical enclosures, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Build, wire and assemble control panels, enclosures and electrical assemblies to specification.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.
• Terminate wires, install components such as relays, PLCs, circuit breakers, terminal blocks and connectors, and route wiring neatly.
• Perform continuity checks, insulation and functional testing using multimeters and other test equipment.
• Identify and resolve assembly or wiring issues and apply corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate assembly records and ensure work meets quality, documentation and safety requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and wiring control panels or similar electrical assemblies.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and follow assembly instructions accurately.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in electrical assembly.
• Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity and neat workmanship.
• Basic electrical test and fault‑finding skills.
• Commitment to safe working practices and ability to meet deadlines.
• Desirable: basic electrical or apprenticeship qualification; experience with PLC or HMI wiring; IPC or other quality/assembly certification.
