Controller – Manufacturing Finance Contractor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a manufacturing organization on a three‑month contract in Cambridge, Ontario. The role focuses on overseeing day‑to‑day accounting, delivering timely financial reporting, and providing cost analysis that drives business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including month‑end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of accurate financial results.
• Produce regular financial reports and ad‑hoc analyses for senior leadership.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, consolidating inputs and tracking performance against plan.
• Support payroll accounting and ensure completeness and accuracy of records.
• Analyze costs, inventory activity, and operating results to identify trends and profitability opportunities.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, reporting practices, and accounting procedures.
• Partner with operational leaders to translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
• Utilize accounting systems and reporting tools to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including financial reporting and month‑end close.
• Manufacturing accounting background, with strong cost accounting and inventory expertise.
• Ability to perform ad‑hoc financial analysis and communicate findings clearly to leadership.
• Experience partnering with operations and senior management.
