Controls Electrical Engineer – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Controls Electrical Engineer to lead a 12‑month site upgrade programme at a large global manufacturer in Slough. You will own the full lifecycle of major capital projects, from concept through to commissioning, ensuring new equipment is integrated safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end execution of LV controls projects, including site surveys, design, scoping, tendering and delivery.
• Issue work permits, supervise electrical isolations and enforce safety procedures on‑site.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and internal teams to meet strict timelines and compliance targets.
• Participate in design reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Oversee removal of legacy equipment and installation of new switchboards, PLCs and control systems across multiple generations of machinery.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Automation or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience delivering controls, automation and electrical projects in FMCG, manufacturing or logistics environments.
• Strong knowledge of low‑voltage controls, electrical circuits and industrial safety regulations.
• Project‑management or safety certifications (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH) are a plus.
