Controls Engineer

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Controls Engineer to join an established engineering team, developing PLC and HMI control software for advanced engineering products. You will design, develop, test and support control solutions throughout the product lifecycle while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop PLC and HMI software in line with functional specifications.
• Design, test and validate control software solutions.
• Produce technical documentation and support release processes.
• Troubleshoot software issues and support manufacturing and service teams.
• Contribute to project planning, risk management and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Controls Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience developing PLC and HMI software within an engineering environment.
• Knowledge of PLC programming including Ladder Logic, Structured Text and Function Blocks.
• Experience with HMI programming and technical documentation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
• Desirable experience with Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, PID control loops, functional safety, HAZOP or FMEA techniques, and manufacturing or industrial automation.
