Controls Engineer (Project Management)

About the role

We are seeking a Controls Engineer with a strong technical background in industrial control and automation to lead site‑based projects across water, wastewater, utilities, energy and industrial process sectors. You will act as the technical lead, delivering end‑to‑end solutions from survey through to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and assess existing PLC, SCADA and instrumentation systems.
• Define scopes of work, technical requirements and upgrade strategies.
• Produce functional design specifications and support full project lifecycle delivery.
• Estimate project effort, material needs and costs for control system upgrades.
• Collaborate closely with design, commissioning and delivery teams while maintaining ownership of technical outcomes.

Required profile

• Strong background in Industrial Control & Automation (ICA), EC&I or Controls Engineering.
• Proven experience with PLC systems, SCADA, HMI development and instrumentation.
• Ability to commute to Reading or surrounding areas.
