Conveyancing Paralegal

About the role

Our client in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Paralegal to support a busy conveyancing department. You will work closely with fee earners, handling residential transactions from initial enquiry through post‑completion.

Key responsibilities

• Answer client enquiries by phone and face‑to‑face, providing a professional service.
• Generate quotes using the online quote tool and open new files.
• Prepare and submit Land Registry Direct applications, local authority, chancel and other pre‑exchange searches.
• Complete Stamp Duty Land Tax forms and manage post‑completion procedures, including file closure.
• Maintain and update the Osprey case management system.
• Build relationships with estate agents and other parties involved in transactions.
• Assist fee earners with marketing activities, presentations and event support.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a conveyancing department handling residential transactions.
• Ability to support multiple fee earners simultaneously.
• Clear, articulate communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional appearance and a pleasant telephone manner.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.

Required skills

• Excellent IT proficiency.
• Experience with a case management system (e.g., Osprey).
• Familiarity with online quote tools and the Land Registry Direct system.
