Conveyancing Secretary

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary / Conveyancing Assistant to join a friendly, supportive team within a growing firm. The role involves progressing residential conveyancing transactions efficiently while delivering high‑standard client care.

Key responsibilities

• Audio‑type and prepare legal documents using digital dictation.
• Produce accurate, well‑presented correspondence and documentation.
• Support fee earners and liaise with clients, estate agents, lenders and third parties.
• Manage diaries, schedule appointments and provide general administrative support.
• Open and close client files, maintain accurate records and filing systems.
• Handle post‑completion work, including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
• Prepare completion statements and assist with completion processes.
• Use case management systems to keep records up‑to‑date.
• Provide support to other departments as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a conveyancing or legal secretarial role.
• Solid understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
• Experience handling post‑completion matters such as Land Registry applications.
• Proactive, reliable and able to use initiative.
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong organisational abilities.
• High attention to detail, especially under pressure.
• Professional communication skills and a client‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Audio typing proficiency (minimum 40 words per minute).
• Case management system proficiency.
