Cook – Care Home Kitchen (Full‑Time, Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join the kitchen team at Mayflower Care Home in Gravesend. You will prepare nutritious, high‑quality meals for residents with diverse dietary needs, supporting their wellbeing and daily routine.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals in line with individual dietary requirements and preferences.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety and presentation.
• Assist with menu planning using fresh ingredients.
• Ensure the kitchen operates smoothly, adhering to rota and cleaning schedules.
• Collaborate with care staff to deliver a balanced dining experience.

Required profile

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Experience in a kitchen or food preparation role.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Positive, reliable attitude with good communication skills.

Required skills

• Food hygiene and safety knowledge.
• Meal preparation and cooking techniques.
• Menu planning.

What we offer

• £14.04 per hour, 37.5 hours per week on a rolling rota (including weekends).
