About the role
The Institute of Technology is seeking an experienced Cook in Charge to lead its busy kitchen serving students, staff and visitors. You will oversee food preparation, cooking, service and the supervision of catering assistants on a term‑time basis.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of food items in a high‑volume catering environment.
- Serve and sell food to students, staff and other stakeholders.
- Order, receive and check deliveries, ensuring stock accuracy and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized kitchen workspace.
- Assist in supervising and supporting a team of catering assistants.
Required profile
- Proven experience cooking in large‑scale catering, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of healthy eating options and nutritional standards.
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or an equivalent qualification.
Required skills
- Food hygiene and safety compliance.
