Cook Manager

About the role

As a Mobile Cook Manager based in Cheshunt, you will travel to primary and secondary schools across the South East, delivering fresh, nutritious meals and leading kitchen teams. The role combines hands‑on cooking with management of stock, budgets and compliance, ensuring a safe and high‑quality dining experience for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations in schools.
• Prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards.
• Oversee stock control, ordering and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations, including HACCP and temperature checks.
• Manage allergen awareness and cater for special dietary requirements.
• Maintain accurate records such as HACCP logs, temperature checks and audits.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students and the wider school community.
• Inspire, develop and motivate the kitchen team.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (required).
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in catering (highly desirable).
• Proven leadership experience in a kitchen or catering environment.
• Strong organisational, planning and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage budgets, stock and kitchen operations confidently.
• Full, valid driving licence, business insurance, MOT and access to a vehicle.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £15.85 (£19,178 per annum) – 27.5 hours per week.
