Corporate Director Children's Services

About the role

The Corporate Director of Children’s Services will lead the strategic direction and delivery of services that safeguard, support and empower children and families across Buckinghamshire. Reporting to senior council leadership, you will shape policy, drive innovation and ensure high‑quality outcomes for the county’s youngest residents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for Children’s Services, setting vision, objectives and performance targets.
• Develop and implement strategic plans in partnership with schools, health providers, police and voluntary organisations.
• Oversee service delivery, ensuring safety, wellbeing and achievement for all children.
• Manage budgets, resources and workforce planning to meet statutory requirements.
• Represent the council at regional and national forums, influencing policy and best practice.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in children’s services, social care or a related public sector field.
• Strong understanding of multi‑agency collaboration and statutory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to drive change, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
