About the role
The Corporate M&A/Deals Tax Manager will lead tax strategy for high‑value merger and acquisition transactions, ensuring tax efficiency and compliance across the deal lifecycle. This senior position works closely with senior stakeholders, legal and finance teams, and external advisers to deliver tax‑optimized outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all tax aspects of corporate M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring and post‑deal integration.
- Provide commercial‑focused tax advice to senior stakeholders on deal strategy, financing and risk management.
- Coordinate with legal, finance and business teams to ensure tax efficiency and compliance throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Manage preparation and review of tax filings, disclosures and reporting related to M&A activities.
- Monitor changes in UK tax legislation and assess impact on current and future deals.
- Develop and maintain robust tax models to evaluate deal economics and identify tax savings.
- Mentor and supervise junior tax staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Represent the organisation in external negotiations and liaise with tax authorities, advisers and auditors.
Required profile
- Qualified tax professional (e.g., Chartered Tax Adviser – CTA) or equivalent certification.
- Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax, capital gains tax and international tax principles.
- 5–7 years of experience in tax advisory or in‑house tax roles focused on M&A and deal structuring.
- Proven track record of delivering tax‑efficient solutions in complex corporate transactions.
- Experience leading cross‑functional project teams and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple high‑value transactions simultaneously.
