Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant will analyse, monitor and control the organisation’s costs within the ERP system, supporting informed financial decisions. You will ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation and margin analysis while providing insights to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quarterly cost roll‑ups, bill of materials reviews and analyse manufacturing variances.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory valuation, oversee cycle counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare margin analysis by product and customer, month‑end journals, labour efficiency reports and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain costing modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX, ensure data integrity and develop reporting tools such as Excel models and BI dashboards.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP, maintain internal controls and support year‑end audit schedules.
• Assist the Finance Manager and Financial Controller with ad‑hoc accounting tasks.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience in cost or management accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory valuation, standard and absorption costing methods.
• Experience working with ERP systems (AX, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.).
• Ability to produce clear financial reports and support process improvement initiatives.
