Costs Draftsperson – Legal Costs Specialist

About the role

We are partnering with a forward‑thinking law firm to hire an experienced Costs Draftsperson. You will support fee earners by managing the full costs lifecycle on high‑value personal injury and civil claims, ensuring maximum recovery and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Draft Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute and Replies.
• Prepare both fixed costs and multi‑track bills.
• Negotiate settlements with opponents and insurers.
• Assist with detailed assessment proceedings.
• Advise fee earners on costs strategy and recovery.
• Manage deadlines and ensure compliance with CPR requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a legal costs role.
• Strong knowledge of CPR and costs procedures.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied workload independently.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Experience in personal injury or civil litigation (desirable).
