Counter Fraud Claims Handler

About the role

The Counter Fraud Claims Handler will investigate and manage a portfolio of suspect insurance claims, ensuring fraud is identified and prevented. Working within Acorn Insurance’s claims department, you will take ownership of cases from initial assessment through to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage investigations and assess intelligence to determine appropriate case outcomes.
• Evaluate a wide range of claims referrals and decide on actions promptly.
• Interpret intelligence to develop investigation strategies.
• Maintain portfolio adherence to claims handling procedures, company protocols and service level agreements.
• Ensure accuracy, quantity and compliance with Treating Customers Fairly, GDPR and FCA regulations.
• Minimise claim leakage while maximising savings and repudiations.
• Respond efficiently to telephone enquiries and liaise with investigative service suppliers.
• Identify and contribute to process improvements within the team.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of claims handling across indemnity, liability, credit hire, property damage, first‑party and bodily injury claims.
• Good judgement, portfolio management discipline and ability to maintain accurate reserves and communications.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong negotiation and customer service abilities.
• Familiarity with intelligence and investigative tools used to validate claims.

What we offer

• Salary between £26,350 and £34,800 per annum.
• Performance‑related bonus up to £2,000 per year once established.
• Hybrid working – based in Liverpool or Sevenoaks with flexibility.
• 37.5‑hour week, Monday‑Friday 9:00‑17:30.
