Cover Supervisor – Behaviour Specialist (Inclusion Focus)

About the role
We are looking for a confident and resilient Cover Supervisor to step into secondary school classrooms across Ellesmere Port. The role focuses on behaviour management and inclusion, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment when the regular teacher is absent.
Key responsibilities
- Take charge of KS3 and KS4 classes, delivering pre‑planned work and maintaining lesson flow.
- Apply positive behaviour strategies to de‑escalate challenging situations and keep students engaged.
- Establish clear boundaries and build rapport quickly with diverse groups of teenagers.
- Support inclusive settings by adapting approaches for vulnerable or high‑needs learners.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure consistency and smooth transitions.
Required profile
- Confident, adaptable and emotionally intelligent with a passion for mentoring young people.
- Proven experience managing large groups of teenagers or vulnerable youth (e.g., behaviour mentor, youth worker, sports coach).
- Willingness to hold an Enhanced DBS (or apply for one).
- Based in, or able to commute to, secondary schools in Ellesmere Port.
Required skills
- Strong classroom control and authoritative presence.
- Effective de‑escalation and conflict‑resolution techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
