Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant (No Experience Required)

About the role

This part‑time contract position supports a busy secondary school in Hedge End, Southampton. You will step in for absent teachers, deliver pre‑planned work and help maintain a focused learning environment. No prior experience is required – full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absence, delivering work from existing lesson plans.
• Read out tutor registrations, messages and daily notices as needed.
• Escort and supervise students during assemblies and other tutor‑time activities.
• Ensure students enter lessons appropriately and follow the school’s code of conduct.
• Respond promptly to poor behaviour, applying appropriate classroom management techniques.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about working with young people and building confidence in the classroom.
• Willing to undertake full training and adhere to school policies.
• Available to work 28.35 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑3:10 pm, term‑time only.
• Good communication and basic behaviour‑management skills.
