Cover Supervisor – Flexible Temporary Teaching Role

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to provide day‑to‑day classroom cover across secondary schools in Brent and Willesden starting in September. The role is ad‑hoc and allows you to choose when you work, stepping in for teacher absences to deliver pre‑planned lessons and maintain a safe learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Accept same‑day cover assignments, being available from 7:00 am for short‑notice bookings.
• Supervise pre‑set lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students stay on task and behave appropriately.
• Support pupils with set work, enforce school behaviour policies, and leave written feedback for the regular teacher.
• Travel between multiple secondary schools in the Brent borough according to daily demand.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, tutoring or sports coaching.
• Morning availability to respond to cover calls and travel promptly.
• Confident classroom presence with clear communication skills and the ability to manage groups of up to 30 students.
