Cover Supervisor – Part‑time (Term‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning in a West Sussex school. The role involves delivering lessons and supervising students when the class teacher is absent, ensuring continuity of the curriculum during term‑time.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise students and deliver pre‑prepared educational resources in the teacher’s absence.
• Maintain a calm, purposeful environment and uphold high standards of behaviour.
• Follow school systems to ensure a disruption‑free learning experience.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress.
• Manage classroom activities, ensuring students complete tasks effectively.

Required profile

• Highly adaptable, responsive and flexible.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Calm, fair, positive and assertive when maintaining standards.
• Passion for learning and working with young people.
• Relevant educational background and experience working with children preferred.
