Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Full‑time, Day Rate)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cover Supervisor to join a large mixed secondary school in Newham, East London. The role is permanent and involves delivering pre‑planned lessons across a range of subjects when the class teacher is absent, ensuring continuity of learning for pupils aged 11‑16.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons across various subject areas in the teacher’s absence.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Keep students engaged and ensure they complete assigned work.
• Provide support and guidance to pupils during lessons as needed.
• Adapt quickly to different classrooms, subjects, and year groups.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school setting.
• Previous teaching experience (qualified or unqualified) is highly desirable.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Confidence to supervise classes independently across multiple subjects.
• Sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Commitment to supporting students’ academic progress and wellbeing.
