Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (London)

About the role

We are looking for reliable Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers to support a large secondary school in Tower Hamlets, London. The role starts in September and offers full‑time, long‑term temporary work, providing valuable classroom experience for education professionals and graduates.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects, keeping students on task.
• Deliver pre‑planned lesson materials and classroom activities.
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
• Take registers and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Report lesson outcomes, student progress and any issues to teaching staff.
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote student wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑aged students in a school, youth work or similar setting (desirable).
• Strong classroom management and confidence leading groups of young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work across subjects and year groups.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• For Cover Teacher roles: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification (desirable).
• For Cover Supervisor roles: a degree or relevant experience working with young people (advantageous).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
