Credible Specialist for GCSE Computer Science/Computing – West

About the role

Pearson Edexcel is seeking a Credible Specialist to support GCSE Computer Science and Computing qualifications across West Sussex. The role is ad‑hoc, roughly two days per month, and involves both on‑site and remote interaction with centres.

Key responsibilities

• Provide centre visits, Zoom and telephone support to guide new and existing centres through the GCSE Computer Science qualification.
• Offer guidance on specific endorsed titles and create teaching and learning resources for the Pearson website.
• Attend stakeholder meetings, senior‑team briefings and relevant events.
• Supply subject expertise and market information to product teams and subject advisors.
• Run online, network and twilight events for GCSE and A‑level audiences.
• Engage with teacher groups on social media platforms, acting as Pearson Edexcel’s voice.
• Model outstanding pedagogy within the endorsed title.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching or assessing Pearson Edexcel GCSE Computer Science.
• Active practitioner in the subject area.
• Professional representation of Pearson Edexcel and alignment with its guidance.
• Willingness to attend a training day with the chair of examiners.
• Completion of Pearson’s training course to qualify for school‑based training.
