Credit Control Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead our consumer credit management function in Marden, Kent. The role focuses on maximising bad‑debt recovery, reducing loan delinquency and driving operational improvements across the credit control journey.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with customers, third‑party agencies and internal teams to minimise losses from loan delinquency and support customers in financial difficulty.
• Identify, design and implement process improvements using automation and AI to boost efficiency and recovery performance.
• Gather, analyse and interpret arrears and recovery data, producing regular reports and insights for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and Consumer Duty principles in all debt‑recovery activities.
• Maintain regular contact with members, negotiate sustainable repayment arrangements and manage complex arrears cases, including legal recovery and enforcement actions.
• Oversee relationships with Credit Reference Agencies, handling reporting, disputes and data accuracy.
• Manage bad‑debt correspondence from debt‑management companies and insolvency practitioners, ensuring timely responses.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit control, arrears management or debt recovery, preferably within the consumer finance sector.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large data sets and identify trends.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to build relationships with customers and external partners.
• In‑depth knowledge of UK financial regulations, FCA requirements and Consumer Duty.
• Leadership experience managing a team and driving process change.
