Credit Controller – 9‑Month Fixed‑Term (Potential Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Credit Controller to join our busy finance team in Runcorn on a 9‑month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate. The role offers a competitive salary of £28,000 and standard office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
• Carry out regular account reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to encourage prompt payment.
• Conduct credit control activities, including chasing overdue invoices via phone and email.
• Maintain accurate records of all communications and account status updates.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve queries that affect payments.

Required profile

• Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar finance/customer‑facing role (preferred).
• Strong numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator able to handle payment discussions professionally while preserving relationships.
