Credit Controller – Fast‑paced Business

About the role

Join a dynamic, nationally‑present business on the outskirts of Peterlee as a Credit Controller. You will own a large, varied ledger and play a key part in ensuring timely recovery of customer payments in a high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage outstanding debt and collect payments in line with agreed credit terms.
• Review customer accounts, credit ratings and payment terms to support order release decisions.
• Communicate with customers via phone, email and letter regarding overdue balances, held orders and invoice queries.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve overdue balances professionally.
• Maintain accurate customer account records, notes and sales ledger information.
• Work cross‑functionally with finance and operational teams to resolve queries and improve processes.
• Support continuous improvement within the credit control function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
• Strong communication, negotiation and customer service abilities.
• Confidence handling high‑volume outbound contact and difficult conversations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
• Collaborative style with strong relationship‑building skills.
