Credit Controller – Finance Team (Glasgow)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our busy finance team in Glasgow. You will own the full credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt across a varied ledger while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume ledger, proactively chasing overdue invoices via phone, email and letters.
• Build and maintain client relationships, resolving payment queries and disputes professionally.
• Monitor debtor accounts, escalating overdue balances according to company policy.
• Allocate cash receipts accurately and perform regular account reconciliations.
• Prepare aged debtor reports and present updates to finance and senior management.
• Liaise with sales, operations and customer service to resolve billing issues.
• Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers and recommend credit limits.
• Support month‑end processes and reporting as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit control with a track record of reducing debtor days.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Highly organised, able to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines.
• Team player who can also work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
