Credit Controller – Harrogate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join a friendly finance team in Harrogate. You will manage your own ledger, maintain strong customer relationships and ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices while collaborating with colleagues across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and collect overdue invoices.
• Chase payments by telephone and email while preserving positive relationships.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries.
• Allocate incoming payments and keep accurate account records.
• Produce customer statements and support the sales ledger function.
• Monitor aged debt and escalate concerns as needed.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with bank reconciliations, cash allocation and month‑end activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Credit Control role handling end‑to‑end processes.
• Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Proactive problem‑solver capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
