Credit Controller – Interim Maternity Cover

About the role

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing business in Newton Aycliffe to find an experienced Credit Controller for an interim maternity cover. The position offers the chance to join a dynamic finance team and may become permanent based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Contact customers by phone, email or letter to chase outstanding payments.
• Monitor account balances, allocate payments, and manage credit limits.
• Liaise with sales and customer service on disputed invoices and delayed payments.
• Escalate high‑risk accounts to the Finance Manager and support weekly/monthly aged debtor reports.
• Prepare internal management reports, handle rebate and claim‑back calculations, and process credit applications.
• Negotiate repayment plans, arrange collections, and provide cover for other finance team members.

Required profile

• Previous experience in credit control or finance administration, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, numeracy and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (including Pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and advanced functions).
• Familiarity with Opera or similar accounting software (advantageous).
