Credit Controller

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team in Billingham. The role involves managing customer accounts, maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the company’s cash flow and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor customer accounts and manage outstanding balances.
• Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email and written correspondence.
• Allocate incoming payments and keep accurate financial records.
• Reconcile accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
• Assess creditworthiness and support credit limit reviews.
• Produce aged debt reports and collection forecasts.
• Maintain records of communications and payment arrangements.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries and escalate non‑payment cases.
• Support month‑end and year‑end finance activities and ensure compliance with policies.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in a credit control or similar finance role.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple accounts and work independently or as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of finance/accounting systems.

What we offer

• Salary £28,000‑£30,000 per annum.
• Performance‑related bonus.
• Full‑time permanent contract, Monday‑Friday.
