Credit Controller

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Credit Controller to join our client’s finance team in Crawley on a short‑term basis. The role focuses on maintaining the sales ledger, reducing aged debt and supporting month‑end processes over a 2‑3 month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the sales ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions.
• Chase outstanding debts via telephone, email and written correspondence.
• Reduce aged debt and improve debtor days through effective collection strategies.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries.
• Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts.
• Produce aged debt reports and provide regular updates to management.
• Maintain accurate customer records and credit notes.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve account discrepancies.
• Support month‑end closing activities as required.
• Review existing credit control procedures and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Credit Control role.
• Strong debt recovery and account reconciliation background.
• Proficiency with Xero or Sage accounting software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
