Credit Controller

About the role

Join our Collections team as a Credit Controller, working hybrid from Oldham/Chadderton. You will protect the company’s ledger by preventing defaults and driving early‑stage recoveries for accounts in the 30‑60 day arrears window.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and intervene early on credit issues to stop accounts from becoming delinquent.
• Research silent customers using original underwriting files and application data to re‑establish contact.
• Engage customers via phone, email and letters to negotiate realistic repayment plans.
• Manage MCOL (Money Claims Online) cases from initiation to resolution.
• Test and optimise internal systems, particularly the Aspire platform.
• Monitor risk indicators and advise management on potential defaults.
• Collaborate with the wider Collections team, sharing insights and covering other business areas as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of credit control experience in a finance‑focused SME or B2B environment.
• Strong investigative mindset and tenacity in pursuing overdue accounts.
• Ability to balance firm commercial action with fair, empathetic customer treatment.

Required skills

• Experience with Aspire by LTi or similar credit management systems.
• Proficiency in handling MCOL (Money Claims Online) processes.
