Credit Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a global manufacturing business that is looking for an experienced Credit Manager to lead and develop its credit control function. The role combines strategic oversight with day‑to‑day management, ensuring robust credit processes while supporting the company’s commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing credit control team, meeting targets and KPIs.
• Conduct detailed risk analysis across customers and sectors to identify exposure and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage relationships with credit insurers, secure appropriate coverage and ensure compliance with policy terms.
• Produce high‑level reports on debtor performance, risk exposure and financial trends for senior stakeholders.
• Improve cash‑flow forecasting accuracy and implement strategies to reduce debtor days.
• Oversee legal recovery for uninsured debts, including initiating proceedings and managing enforcement actions.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a credit control function, preferably in FMCG, wholesale or distribution.
• Strong understanding of credit risk, debtor management and legal recovery processes.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with a strategic mindset.
• Professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) is highly advantageous.
• Experience managing credit insurance processes and driving change such as system integration or onboarding acquired businesses.
