About the role

Richard Nelson LLP is seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join its specialist Criminal Law team in Nottingham. The role involves providing confidential, high‑quality legal advice and representation to private clients facing investigations or prosecutions by a range of authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload across multiple areas of criminal law, ensuring work meets the firm’s professional standards.
• Conduct case management efficiently, using the firm’s case‑management systems and IT tools.
• Provide advice, preparation and representation for clients at every stage of criminal proceedings.
• Represent private paying clients in matters involving police, CPS, SFO, HMRC, FCA, NCA, RSPCA and other regulated bodies.
• Travel nationwide to attend police stations and courts as required.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in criminal defence.
• Dedicated and client‑focused approach with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
• Willingness to travel across the UK to attend meetings, police stations and court hearings.
• Strong understanding of criminal law procedures and regulatory environments.
