About the role

We are seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join our specialist Criminal Law team at Richard Nelson LLP. The role involves handling a diverse portfolio of private criminal matters for individuals and companies facing prosecution by a range of authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload across multiple areas of criminal law, from initial investigation to trial.
• Provide confidential, high‑quality legal advice and representation at every stage of a case.
• Conduct case management using the firm’s IT and case‑management systems efficiently.
• Attend police stations, courts and other venues nationwide as required.
• Maintain cost‑effective work practices while upholding the highest professional standards.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in criminal defence.
• Demonstrated ability to handle private‑pay clients and complex investigations.
• Strong client‑focused approach with excellent communication and discretion.
• Willingness to travel across the UK for court appearances and police interviews.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using case‑management software and standard legal IT tools.
