Criminal Justice Worker – Support Adults in Southend

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Criminal Justice Worker to join our team in Southend‑on‑Sea. In this full‑time position you will support adults aged 18 and over who are involved with the criminal justice system and are dealing with drug or alcohol issues, helping them move towards recovery and a stable future.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, develop care plans and deliver tailored psychosocial interventions.
• Provide one‑to‑one harm‑reduction and recovery support.
• Advise magistrates and probation officers on suitability for ATRs and DRRs.
• Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective assistance.
• Collaborate with GPs, prisons, probation services and other external agencies.
• Assist clients with housing, benefits, training and employment referrals.
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports and performance data.
• Contribute to service targets, outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience working with vulnerable adults in criminal justice, substance‑misuse or health/social‑care settings.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding and case management.
• Ability to build positive relationships with service users and partner agencies.
• Organised, resilient and capable of handling competing priorities.
• Confident use of IT systems and accurate record‑keeping.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard IT and case‑management software.
