Critical Systems Shift Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Critical Systems Shift Electrical Engineer to join a leading facilities management client in Wokingham. The role involves delivering planned and reactive electrical maintenance within a critical environment, ensuring systems remain reliable, safe and efficient throughout the shift.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency electrical maintenance on high‑availability client sites.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
• Collaborate with the facilities team to implement improvements and minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and compliance with safety standards.
• Support testing and inspection activities in line with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification.
• Certification to the 17th/18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
• IPAF 3A & 3B certification and basic mechanical knowledge.
• Desirable: AP/LV qualification.
• Proven experience working in a critical environment or data centre.
• Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) platforms.

Required skills

• Electrical testing and inspection procedures.
• Interpretation of IEE Wiring Regulations.
• Use of IPAF‑certified access equipment.
• Mechanical troubleshooting basics.
• Data‑centre electrical infrastructure knowledge.
• BMS system operation and monitoring.
