Customer Delivery Driver – Colchester (Hythe)

About the role

As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver groceries directly to customers' homes in Colchester and the surrounding Hythe area. The role combines driving, customer interaction and physical handling of orders, offering a varied day‑to‑day experience.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the van, trays and work area clean, tidy and organised to ensure orders arrive in perfect condition.
• Load the van safely and complete all vehicle checks to guarantee roadworthiness.
• Communicate order changes, substitutions or short‑dated items to customers in a friendly, reassuring manner.
• Handle products with care, treating each order as if it were your own.
• Deliver within the customer’s selected time slot, providing warm, natural service at the doorstep.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and any refunds or adjustments required.

Required profile

• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues and customers, demonstrating a warm and welcoming attitude.
• Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and respond promptly while on the road.

• Hourly pay starting at £14.18, rising to £15.45 in stores within the M25.
• Minimum 16 hours per week (roles from 12 hours also available).
