Customer Delivery Driver – Newcastle

About the role

As the face of Tesco on the road, you will bring customers’ groceries straight to their homes across Newcastle. The role combines driving, customer interaction and physical handling of orders, offering a varied day‑to‑day experience.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the van, trays and work area clean and organised to ensure orders arrive in perfect condition.
• Load the van safely, perform vehicle checks and maintain roadworthiness.
• Communicate order changes, substitutions or short‑dated items to customers in a friendly manner.
• Handle products with care, treating each order as if it were your own.
• Deliver within the customer’s selected time slot, providing warm, natural service at the doorstep.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and any issues encountered.

Required profile

• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
• Be warm, welcoming and able to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and road conditions.

What we offer

• Hourly pay starting at £14.18, rising to £15.45 within the M25.
• Minimum 16 hours per week (roles from 12 hours also available).
• 20 days holiday plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, plus Bank Holidays.
