Customer Focused - Equipment Rental Lead

About the role

This position manages the full customer journey for equipment rentals, from the initial sale or agreement through to completion. You will ensure machines are onboarded smoothly, customers meet their operational responsibilities, and revenue opportunities are maximised throughout the hire lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the single point of contact for sales, operations, finance, and customer queries.
• Oversee the Hire, Demo and Stand‑in (HDS) process to maintain quality and consistency.
• Manage delivery, handover, and daily/weekly machine checks while equipment is on hire.
• Escalate and resolve any equipment issues promptly.
• Ensure accurate invoicing, including hire rates, overtime, damage, downtime, and off‑hire records.
• Continuously improve machine inspection, reporting, and compliance processes.
• Recover applicable damage charges and manage customer expectations throughout the hire lifecycle.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Previous experience in plant, machinery, or equipment hire.
• Strong understanding of rental operations and customer account management.
• Proven ability to build long‑term customer relationships.
• Commercial awareness with a track record of identifying sales opportunities.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience supporting capital equipment sales or rental operations.
• Good knowledge of machinery inspection, condition reporting, and damage assessment.
• Collaborative experience with service and engineering teams.
