Customer Service Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join a leading science and innovation organisation in Basingstoke. The role involves managing customer accounts across the UK, processing orders and ensuring a high standard of service. You will work in a hybrid setting, spending most days on‑site while enjoying flexibility to work from home.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update customer master data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Process quotations, orders and scheduling agreements within agreed service levels.
• Respond to customer enquiries by phone and email, delivering excellent service.
• Collaborate with Distribution, Planning, Finance and Sales Operations teams.
• Investigate and resolve customer queries and complaints promptly.
• Track deliveries and liaise with courier partners.
• Support daily operational meetings and manage shared mailboxes.
• Contribute to performance targets such as Lines on Time In Full (LOTIF).
• Promote company values and participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Enjoys working with customers and can manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using SAP for order, quotation or account administration.

What we offer

• £15.00 per hour, visible salary.
• Hybrid working – 4 days on‑site, 1 day remote.
• Full‑time hours: Monday‑Thursday 9:00‑17:00, Friday 9:00‑15:30 (37.5 h/week).
• Start date 20 July 2026 with an initial contract until 21 May 2027.
